John Hollan came to Blue Valley Baptist Church as Pastor of Worship in August of 2007 after serving in similar ministry positions in Houston, Dallas, and Temple, Texas. He holds a degree in Church Music from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. It was in college that he met and married his wife, Melinda, who now teaches mathematics at Olathe East High School.

 

They have three daughters, all of whom love music and the arts. Meredith is a student at Wichita State University pursuing a degree in Musical Theatre; Lillie and Olivia attend schools in Olathe and participate in various musical and theatrical activities both in school and around the community.

 

John is an avid lover of theatre, but not simply as an actor or audience member. He spends much of his personal time working with school theatre programs and professional or community theater troupes teaching the art of stage makeup. 

 

When he’s not spending time with his family or working in the makeup room, he’s likely pursuing one of his other hobbies: straight razor shaving, brewing the perfect cup of coffee, or shooting digital photographs.
