At BVBC, Parent Commitment comes from the Biblical examples of Samuel and Jesus.  We are told in 1 Samuel 1, Hannah presented her son, Samuel to the Lord.  In Luke 2:22 we read that Mary and Joseph brought their baby, Jesus, to the temple in Jerusalem in order to present him before the Lord.

Parent Commitment does not mean your child is being baptized or becoming a follower of Jesus.  This event is about your commitment as a parent to lead your child into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, so that as your child grows you are able to teach him/her what it means to follow Jesus.

Parent Commitment

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Parent Commitment is an opportunity for new parents to focus today on what will affect their child's future the most.  In the midst of all that is changing in your home with the addition of your new baby, we invite you to take a moment to focus on what really matters most. No one will have more influence on your child than YOU!

Step One
Attend a 45-minute orientation class during our 11:00 Sunday morning service. We will introduce you to our littleKIDS environment created especially for preschoolers. You will learn about how to invest in the spiritual development of your childand give you the information on how to sign up for our Parent Commitment Celebration Service.

Step Two
Fill out the Parent Commitment Celebration Service form. This will include: child’s name(s), life verse, friends and family members present the day of the celebration service, someone to pray over your family and up to three photos of each childparticipating.  Due two weeks before celebration service.

Step Three
Participate in the celebration service. If you are making it a priority to teach your child about God, and want to make a public commitment of that choice, we want to personally invite you to participate in the Parent Commitment Celebration Service after you have completed steps 1 and 2.
